Storm Rips Through Baltimore Region Leaving Trail Of Wreckage

A storm that ripped through the Baltimore region last night left many areas with severe damage from fires, downed trees, and other hazards, officials report.

A downed line in Bethesda sparked several fires down a residential street, as captured on video released by Montgomery County authorities. 

The line on York Lane was reported around 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Dozens of Olney families are reportedly likely to be displaced due to home damage after numerous reports of trees that had fallen onto houses.

Prince George's County Fire Department shared a photo of a house that was completely uprooted.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan confirmed that state officials are monitoring the damage and power outage reports that continue to come in after the massive storm took down several power lines, trees, and homes throughout Maryland.

"Please stay off the roads in affected areas as crews work to clear trees & debris, and deal with downed power lines. Thank you to all the crews and first responders, and emergency management officials", continued Governor Hogan.
